About Us

Hello, my name is Shelby Williams and I am a graduate student at Lamar University currently working towards my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am working under the supervision of Ms. Aneika Pruitt, LPC. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology at Tech University with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences. My academic background and previous life experiences have helped shape my passion for counseling and wanting to help individuals, couples, and families from all communities become empowered.

My theoretical orientation for counseling is an integrative approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. By combining these approaches, I aim to provide a holistic, client-centered, and evidence-based treatment plan. I encourage a collaborative relationship with my clients to create a therapeutic process that is a partnership and will help to empower clients to work through challenges while also developing skills and strategies that are needed to reach their goals.

I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgemental environment where clients of all backgrounds can be heard. Each treatment plan will be based on unique concerns, client strengths, and supportive resources to assist clients with feeling empowered to take an active role in their healing process and highlight their resilience as their work towards personal growth and self-discovery.

I am Aneika - a creative, innovative, and forward-thinking clinician who strives to encourage, enlighten, and empower all clients. While client populations have spanned from age 3 through adulthood, my specialties are child and adolescent therapy and perinatal mental health with marked success in work counseling adults and young people diagnosed with mood and behavioral disorders. Work and volunteer experiences have afforded me the opportunity to work with and treat individuals with epilepsy, adjustment, marriage, family, co-occurring, severe mental health, substance abuse, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

My theoretical orientation for counseling is centered around a Cognitive Behavioral, Rogerian, holistic, and trauma focused therapy with an emphasis on incorporating strengths-based techniques.

My approach to treatment and recovery is often collaborative between therapist, client, and any other supportive resources available and/or necessary depending on clients' needs. With this approach, the therapeutic experience is synergistic and reinforces client autonomy along with client empowerment throughout the counseling process. In the work that I do with clients, there is emphasis on the growth of all five selves of the individual - social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive selves.
